Home Learning
At Marsh Gibbon CE School, we believe the value of home learning is for children to:
We use a model of ‘Pick & Mix’ home learning which encourages children to regularly practise useful skills like reading, spelling and mental maths, whilst producing evidence of learning to reinforce and extend lessons taking place in school.
We welcome and encourage parental involvement in home learning tasks but ultimately want children to be responsible for their own home learning – organising it, completing it and handing it in.
This is where the true value of home learning lies; developing a commitment to personal learning and preparing them for the increasing expectation as they move through primary school and into secondary education.
- Learn and ask questions beyond the classroom
- Be creative in a manner which interests them
- Become more independent and develop their personal organisation
- Manage their time and meet deadlines
