RELIGIOUS EDUCATION at Marsh Gibbon CE School
Please speak to Mrs Brown to find out more about our RE curriculum
Our Spirituality Statement
Our RE curriculum reflects our Christian character, inviting children to grow spiritually and morally through inclusive reflection and worship. Guided by our Christian values, we encourage curiosity, respect, and understanding of different beliefs, helping children develop as thoughtful members of a diverse world.
Join us in inspiring respectful, curious, and compassionate learners—living out our Christian values and exploring the richness of faith and culture in the world!
Our Intent
RE is a core subject that helps children become respectful, open-minded, and curious about different beliefs and cultures. Using stories and personal experiences, children explore questions about faith and morality, fostering discussion and deeper understanding. British Values are woven throughout, supported by weekly collective worship.
Using the windows, mirrors, and doors analogy:
50% of lessons focus on Christianity, reflecting its importance in our school community, with the remaining lessons exploring other faiths and worldviews.
Implementation
Enquiry Approach
Rooted in the Jigsaw RE scheme and aligned with the Buckinghamshire syllabus, each unit explores a big question (e.g., “How can a Christian show commitment to God?”). Children share their experiences, investigate beliefs, and reflect on their learning, developing critical thinking and personal responses over about three lessons.
Reflection & Creativity
Children reflect on what they’ve learned and how it relates to their own beliefs. Many lessons involve creative media, encouraging self-expression beyond writing.
Impact
Children ask questions, develop respect, and deepen their understanding of faiths and cultures. They build confidence to share ideas and reflect on values in a respectful environment. Their curiosity and understanding help them become thoughtful, considerate members of a diverse society.
Meeting the Statutory Entitlement
At Marsh Gibbon CE School, we are committed to delivering the statutory Entitlement Religious Education, ensuring that all children receive a broad, balanced, and meaningful RE curriculum in line with national requirements and the Buckinghamshire syllabus, fostering their spiritual, moral, and cultural development.
