Marsh Gibbon CofE School is seeking a talented SENDCo to join our wonderful village school on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
Our recent Ofsted inspection (July 2025) praised our robust systems and processes for supporting pupils with SEND, as well as our close work with parents and carers. You’ll be joining a supportive and dedicated staff team, working with amazing children who display outstanding behaviour and attitudes to learning, and a community of highly supportive parents.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
- Oversee the identification, assessment and provision for pupils with SEND, maintaining accurate records
- Work closely with teachers to ensure high-quality teaching is adapted to meet the needs of all pupils, as recognised in our July 2025 Ofsted inspection
- Coordinate and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Develop positive relationships with parents and carers, working collaboratively to support their children’s learning and wellbeing, in line with our Ofsted-recognised practice
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals to secure effective support for pupils with SEND
- Provide advice, guidance and training to staff on SEND matters
- Monitor and report on the progress of pupils with SEND
- Promote inclusive practice throughout the school, ensuring all children, including those with SEND, have the best opportunities
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold the school’s Christian ethos and values
Person Specification / Qualifications and Training
Experience
Skills and Knowledge
Personal Qualities
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination
- Evidence of relevant professional development
Experience
- Successful teaching experience in a primary school setting
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND
- Experience of working collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies
- Experience of leading or supporting SEND provision (desirable)
Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and review provision for pupils with SEND
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Good IT skills, including the use of management information systems

- Commitment to upholding and promoting the ethos and values of the school
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
