Mental Health and Wellbeing at Marsh Gibbon CE School

Picture
Picture
‘Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community’. (World Health Organization)
At Marsh Gibbon CE  Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.
We have a supportive and caring ethos and our approach is respectful and kind, where each  individual and contribution is valued.
At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us  vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view  that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.

Top tips for Wellbeing

Do more to feel better
It might be difficult to do the things you would usually do that help you feel happy and calm, but there are things you should try and do which can help you feel better. Don’t just do nothing!
  • Go for a walk
  • Put a plan together of what you would like to do every day
  • Play a board game / do puzzles
  • Draw or create something
  • Now can be the time to start a new hobby
  • Read a book
  • Stay hydrated
  • Be mindful of what you are eating – try to eat well
  • It is really important to keep in contact with people and stay connected with each other.
https://actionforhappiness.org/all-calendars shares a calendar each month with a theme to promote wellbeing. It gives a suggested activity each day.

Referral

If you believe your child needs support from CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) as a parent you can self refer by completing the form below, you do not need to see a doctor.

https://secureforms.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/camhs/Buckinghamshire.aspx

After receiving a referral form, you will receive a phone assessment and they will decide whether your child meets the threshold for intervention, otherwise they will signpost you to the appropriate services for further support.
